Easter Giveaway: Hotel Chocolat Your Eggscellency (TM) Extra Thick Easter Egg

It’s almost the Easter holidays, the weather is glorious and I have been sampling Hotel Chocolat products in the form of fine cream truffles and a whopping Extra Thick Chocolate Easter Egg – so all is good! In case you are beginning to think about what wonderful delights are out there this Easter, I have started some of the (very hard) ground work for you by sampling this lovely egg and one lucky reader will get the chance to try one for Easter, too.

The high street is bursting at the seams with chocolate and Easter products, but true to form, the Easter Gifts range from Hotel Chocolate stands out, ticking all the right boxes for quality and originality.

This year, the range starts from £5.00 for goodies such as the Keepsake Easter Tin (with three chocolates) or the Easter Egg Box (with four chocolate eggs) to the staggering Ostrich Easter Eggs at £70.00.  So, whether you are looking to impress with luxury Easter eggs or want something fun and quirky for the kids, there is something for everyone.

Looking a little more closely at the range, I think The Champagne Truffle Easter Egg or The Gianduja Truffle Easter Egg (both £38.00) are equally stunning eggs and would be sure to impress. The Rocket Easter Egg and The Flutterby Easter Egg (both £12.00) are also in my basket already for the kids!

Your Eggscellency Extra Thick Easter Egg

Whilst happily nibbling away (just like the Easter bunny) at the Your Eggscellency Extra Thick Easter Egg, I was most impressed by the unusually-flavoured cream truffles that came along with it – 12 in total. The Bison Grass Vodka truffle won hands down – “Iconic Polish vodka with subtle herby notes in mellow milk chocolate truffles.” I love Bison Grass Vodka and so to taste it in a chocolate truffle did bring a little smile to my face. The Pink Champagne Truffle came a close second, a dusting of strawberry powder, a good taste of alcohol through the truffle cream and a lovely thick case of milk chocolate.

The egg shells themselves were indeed, extra thick, to the point of almost needing a good bash! It was nice to get half a shell of 70% dark chocolate and the other half 40% milk chocolate. The truffles are classed as either having a little alcohol (to preserve and soften) or a generous dash. I found them all to have a very good kick of alcohol within – never a bad thing in my book!
