Happy Thanksgiving!

The general levels of craziness before Christmas are rising fast and despite my best efforts, my blog posts are piling up rapidly! I’ve just found out that I am off to France next week, to stay at Château de Chanteloup in Cognac for a gourmet foodie adventure with an amazing bunch of people. I won’t name drop in advance, so you’ll have to wait and see who I’m going with! I can hardly believe that I am going to be one of them and that my objective is to eat drink and be merry on Martell. I’m sure that I will have plenty to report back on, but in the meantime…

Today is Thanksgiving in America and my sister, who lives in Italy, has gone over to join my other sister and her children, who live near Seattle, having not seen eachother since my wedding almost six years ago. I so wish I could be with them but we can’t have everything, can we?! The next best thing to joining them was seeing at least one of them for a short time. I am thankful for my family and for this brief (two hour) reunion with my sister as she flew into Heathrow on her way to America –

And to my mum for treating us to a lovely breakfast at the airport…

No turkey for us today. Instead we are staying home and keeping warm with a big pan of kedgeree, more about that later…!

Happy Thanksgiving to all those of you who are marking the ocassion. I hope your turkeys are succulent (I will never forget my sister’s deep fried turkey adventures in her back garden) and that your sides and sweets are inspired.

Here’s a very cute post by Shutterbean called “I am Thankful for…”  – thank you Sally, for pointing us to this.
