Q&A and a ‘show us your fridge’ meme!

I’ve been tagged, by the lovely Sarah at Maison Cupcake, and have to say, that I am very excited because it’s the first time I have been ‘tagged’ by a fellow blogger! The challenge is either to show your fridge and/or answer a series of questions. So, in the spirit of being a good sport I will do both. I believe this is something called a ‘meme,’ and I confess to having had no idea what that was. A quick search on google reveals that a ‘meme’ is a unit of social information and is something that can be replicated or transferred. So, there you go. This particular meme is based on The Guardian’s Q&A feature

Here goes:

Which living person do you most admire, and why?

Anyone who has battled or fought with cancer.

When were you happiest?

I am at my happiest now, although I remember that being 17 was fun – life seemed very full of adventure ahead.

What was your most embarrassing moment?

There have been plenty – Being out very late/early at uni and walking home then realising the London Marathon was taking place and looking like I was trying to take part in my high heels. Dropping something from a spoon that had been handed to me to taste by the Chef onto the floor of a three Michelin starred kitchen. Simultaneously falling over and locking myself out of my car with my future husband standing next to me wondering what on earth he had let himself in for. I could go on, but won’t.

Aside from property, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought?
My first car, a Golf.

Where would you like to live?
Somewhere by the seaside, such as France, or in the Italian countryside, or America.

What’s your favourite smell?
Melting chocolate!

Who would play you in the film of your life?
Renée Zellweger, though she would have to gain a few stone as she did in Bridget Jones and may not be too happy about that!

What is your favourite book?
I enjoyed Eat, Love, Pray as a book and love everything by Paulo Coelho.

What is your most unappealing habit? Not being particularly patient.

What would be your fancy dress costume of choice?
Maria from The Sound of Music, a lovely outfit made of curtains!

What is your earliest memory? Family holidays in North Wales.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Chocolate and cake, without a doubt.

What do you owe your parents?
My mum – a strong sense of independence, self-sufficiency and a rich cultural upbringing. From my dad – nostalgia.

To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why?
My husband – for constantly taking photos of everything I eat or make.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

What does love feel like?
Being wrapped in a big warm blanket.

What was the best kiss of your life?
Top of the Empire State building just after saying ‘yes!’

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Can you not do that, please? (to the kids)

What is the worst job you’ve done?
Probably working in a dry cleaners because the smell used to make me feel sick.

If you could edit your past, what would you change?
A few things, to tidy up, though I don’t live with regrets.

What is the closest you’ve come to death?
Childbirth – a couple of scary moments.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Hard to pick one! My education, because it stays with you no matter what, my family/children, following my dreams.

When did you last cry, and why?
Watching Made in Dagenham the other night, one line in particular resonated.

How do you relax?
Reading, blogging, having a bath.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
Living closer to my family, which are now a bit scattered.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
To not be afraid of following your heart.

And now to the fridge!

Now, this is not particularly interesting but here goes. I have opted to show you the contents of my fridge from a recent visit to North Wales. It was lovely to spot a farm shop along the way and to stop for some wonderful local produce. I have never seen so many ‘Gold Taste Awards’ in one place before and it was a real treat to be able to start our holiday with some really good food, as opposed to stopping at the local supermarket.

So, what’s in my fridge?  To start with, some local duck eggs. I also bought some lovely local Welsh black beef (sirloin and beef burgers) and some rare bred bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with sausagemeat for the barbeque. Cidar vinegar and rapeseed oil, both locally produced. Salad and veggies, nothing too exciting here. Welsh butter, Cheddar and Caerphilly and local milk. Chocolate Easter bunnies. A bottle of Polish vodka, not so local, but handy for a tipple (belonged to my brother so I’ll have to owe him). A container of home made barley soup, left for me in the freezer by my mum, along with Polish meatballs, a stew and more soup (I love my mum). And that’s it!

Thank you, Sarah, for thinking of me, and for tagging me and for sharing some of your answers too. Good Luck for the upcoming MAD Awards 2011, I am quite certain you will win in lots of categories!

I also have to pass this only five other bloggers, who also have the choice of either showing their fridges and/or answering the Q&A, whichever they please:

Looking forward to reading your answers/seeing your fridge!
