Mmmn, so I was lucky enough to receive some fabulous products to sample from the lovely Sue at My Secret Kitchen, which is a UK-based ‘food-tasting’ company. Their products are available on-line (click on the link above). You can also host your very own home-tasting event during which a consultant will come along to showcase the ‘tasting menu’ or give a demonstration of a particular product, offer you all a taste and provide you with some top tips on how to enhance your cooking using My Secret Kitchen products.
The first thing I tried was the Miso Dressing with Ginger. I remembered being almost hooked on a miso salad dressing while visiting my sister in the States, and though I always look out for new products over here, have never been able to anything that would work as an equivalent. So, I was quite excited to try this dressing.
As an oil-free salad dressing, it really works. It was silky and rich; you could definitely taste the ginger and soy. The miso added a very subtle hint of flavour but still gave the sauce a little something extra.
The Miso Dressing with Ginger is also quite versatile; the little leaflet that came along with the products suggests adding crunchy peanut butter and using it as a quick Satay sauce or mixing the dressing with honey and using it as a marinade for chicken, tofu or tuna. I also thought that using it with salmon would work really well, and, as you can see from my photo below it made a quick and easy addition to a king prawn stir-fry!
