Giveaway: Win a Gourmet Christmas Box Worth Over £120

Christmas really did arrive early for me this week when I received a seasonal hamper from Knorr UK and British online gourmet food company Forman and Field. The box was huge and was filled to the brim with seasonal and Christmas treats for me to cook with, including a 5KG Kelly Bronze Turkey worth £73.95  and all the trimmings as well as some truly luxurious items such as London cure Scottish smoked salmon and Keta caviar. This is the fourth box that I’ve received this year, all tied into our meeting with Marco Pierre White back in May during which he showed us how to cook easy and tasty food using Knorr products and fresh seasonal produce. Thank you so much to Knorr for sending me this wonderful seasonal produce.

I have an exclusive recipe to share from Marco for a fruity left-over Christmas Turkey Curry (Get your Bridget Jones and Mr Darcy Christmas jumpers at the ready!)  I’ll be posting separately about this as well as sharing some of Marco’s top tips for the festive period in the run up to Christmas. There are also plenty of other recipes and videos on the Knorr website and top tips, including this great post about cooking with seasonal squash.

In the meantime, Knorr and Foreman and Field have very kindly offered me a second goodie box to giveaway to one of my readers – so one of you will be as lucky as me!

    I would use the salmon with breakfast On Christmas morning.

    The turkey, seasonal veg and trimmings would all go toward Christmas dinner, of course! The fruit and cream would be used for dessert – something refreshing and light after a big dinner!

    I would have salmon or caviar to start (how sophisticated!!)

    Roasted sliced pear and with melted stilton starter for our vegetarian guests. Salmon, mozarella and orange salad with a delicate drizzle of the caviar for the non vegetarians.

    Main would be Turkey (or Nut and Cranberry Roast for our veggie mates), honey roasted parsnips, my mums Garlic Potatoes (potatoes with a gorgeous tomato and garlic thick sauce which you cook off with the potatoes until the sauce has baked all through the potatoes), or roasties, all the trimmings (including veggie pigs in blankets), followed by a coconut and pineapple upside down cake and double cream.

    Then Marco’s Turkey Curry for supper.

    Well, I’d cook the ubiquitous roast dinner for Christmas day but with a curry crisp skin (just to ring the changes and since we have Bangladeshi guests, they’d enjoy it too.   143. I would make a traditional Christmas dinner but we’d definitely have plenty leftover! I think the curry could be a bit heavy for me post-Christmas dinner, so perhaps a soup using the turkey carcass for stock (or Marco’s stock pots for quickness which I’ll probably appreciate by that point) and the extra veg in the hamper. I’d serve the stilton, smoked salmon and caviar when we have friends round on boxing day with crackers and blinis. For an easy dessert we would have pineapple baked in rum served with homemade coconut ice cream.

    I would cook the turkey the traditional way with mixed seasonal vegtables and trimmings because that’s how we like it, except for my teenage son who prefers anything other then turkey.   183. I have followed both things on twitter and you on facebook. I am currently a student in Edinburgh who loves to cook. My flatmates and I all finish our exams on the 9th December. So I would cook an end of term celebration dinner with the contents of the box and get friends to bring pudding and starters in order to feed the maximum number of people. I would roast the turkey nothing fancy as this would be the first time I have done it and I would make blinis to go with the salmon and caviar. Lets face it I live with boys who are gannets so there wouldn’t be any left overs so i would have to save the curry ingredients for another day. I also probably wouldn’t be able to resist making a gingerbread house as it takes me straight back to my childhood every year.

    Then I would follow it with a cheese/cracker board and then if anyone had room I would offer them dessert from the box above

    We’d have smoked salmon and caviar for an indulgent Christmas morning breakfast in bed while we open our presents. The full turkey dinner would follow with all the trimmings. For a light lunch the following day I’d make a curried vegetable & turkey soup with the leftovers and stock. Then for a refreshing dessert it would be sliced apples, pineapple and chunks of stilton cheese.

    I would wrap the cheese up & give it to my brother in law as part of his christmas present. He loves cheese…. acutally his love for cheese is pretty disgusting imo….. he has cheese on everything…. even in/on currys, roast dinners, chinese take-aways etc.

    I would serve the caviar on toasted bread as a starter or the salmon on a bed of lettuce leaves. Followed by the Traditional Turkey dinner with all the rimmings for my family, which luckily my husband always helps to prepare.

    I would make a Stilton and peppercorn sauce to go with steak, which we all love.

    I will use the pineapple for a sticky upside down cake and served with the cream, great winter pud.

    I may also make a curry using the left over Turkey, onion, curry powder and coconut.

  318. Hi Ren. What a fab competition. I would use the pack to feed my family for christmas and boxing day. I would do a started of salmon, caviar and bellinis after we have opened our pressies and then for the full turkey with trimmings. Stilton would be used in the cheese course and then I would make little fruit tarts for dessert.
    On boxing day I would have the turkey curry and make little poppyseed and stilton biscuits with any left over stilton.

    Oh my word – I can almost smell that turkey! Well, a delicious Christmas dinner for us, obviously and one for the elderly chap across the way. Seeing as the ingredients for turkey curry are included, I’d have a go at that instead of the usual Boxing Day turkey omelettes/sandwiches.

  337. Debone the turkey – breast for a turkey breast roast on christmas day and the legs for roasts later in the year. The wings would be put to one side to give to our cat (raw – he loves them). The carcass would be boiled and picked clean of meat which will be put in a tasty pie.

    Smoked salmon would be served with soft scrambled eggs for breakfast.

    Some of the stilton would have to be used for a tasty broccoli and stilton soup.

    I think the other foods would be used in general cooking, but we’ll be sure to pass some on to family and friends who will like them.

    Then I’d cook a traditional Christmas turkey lunch with all the trimmings and seasonal vegetables.

    On Christmas evening I would prepare cheese and biscuits for all the family using the stilton as the “showcase cheese”

    On boxing day I’d make a light salmon and creme fraiche pasta starter with the salmon then for main course we’d have a light, fruity turkey curry to use up the leftovers from christmas day.

    The bones etc of the turkey would then be used with the veggie peelings to make a lovely stock which I’d use in the future to remind me of the wonderful Christmas meals we’d enjoyed

    Caviar and salmon would be perfect as a starter served with warm mini blini, Russian style, made of the buckwheat flour.
    The turkey and trimmings would be a great meal for Christmas, leaving plenty for the next day sandwiches and soup (for which the stock pots will be very handy).
    If Mr Darcy fancied to come for a curry, of course, he is always welcome!

  390. What an amazing Christmas dinner it would be with this fantastic hamper. Starter would have to be smoked salmon risotto, followed by Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. I know some people enjoy a bit of Stilton with their Christmas cake but I would enjoy it with some cheese and biscuits and home made chutney. Turkey sandwiches of course followed by the delicious sounding turkey curry on boxing day – for me and my son, my OH would have to be convinced to try something that “fancy”!!

  405. I would make a salad starter with the Stilton, Caviare and Salmon. I would simply roast the turkey with all the trimmings keeping it nice and easy but totally delicious. I’d serve the fruit in a simple fruit salad for pudding, light and lovely.

    THE BEST COMPETITION I’VE SEEN IN AGES!
    I’d make a roast dinner on Christmas Day which I would stretch so we could also have one on boxing day, the day after we would have a lovely turkey curry. I’d pop to the shop and buy some bellinis and make some little smoked salmon, stilton and caviar ones as a starter. Feeling hungry now!

    I’d cut the breasts off the turkey and make escalopes with them, then fill them with a stilton, apple and onion stuffing. I’d braise thesewith stock made with the Knorr pot and finish the sauce with double cream.

    The rest of the turkey and some of the seasonal veg, along with some curry spices, would be made into a curry, with a fresh pineapple and banana sambal on the side.
